As I watching one of the Grey Phalaropes a flock of 50+ finches sp. flew west and very low over the breaking waves. Linnets maybe!!
On the beach were several dead Conger Eels, with one estimated to be in double figures. These carcasses were being visited by more Great Black-backed Gulls, a few Herring Gulls, a Raven and 2 Carrion Crows.
Also on the beach were Rock Pipits and Pied Wagtails.
Word was out, that there was a female-type Black Redstart by the Ship Inn, and when I got there, the female-type was showing well and then another one put in an appearance.
Despite the strong westerly and very rough sea it was a excellent 2 hours spent at Chesil Cove.
